Again, love to know if this is just my car or if there is a problem. It's only a small niggle, but I'm curious. If I use the front screen wash on intermittent wipe, it doesn't do its usual 3 or 4 wipes like it does when it's turned off. Is this by design?

That's the way they are built. It is possible to change the relay for one that gives you control of the intermittent period. It's a Bosch unit and just plugs straight in as a replacement. If you do a search there was a thread on this with part numbers about 6 months ago.

Mine does - flick the washer while on intermittent and it does the usual 3 or 4 sweeps automatically, before returning to intermittent mode.
Interesting ... thanks Jules. I've been meaning to check what the headlight wipers did, but I need an able assistant to do it!
