This morning I went out and started the K reg 2.3FPT - the engine revs went straight to 2000 and sat there. If I blipped the accelerator they just went higher and sat there

Turned off the ignition and then turned it back on and it started fine with the revs doing their normal little surge then the drop down to the normal idle speed.

This is about the 5th time its done this recently.

The car has TCS and cruise control with the Electronic throttle.

Is it just a sticking throttle or signs of something more worrying.

The problem is that its a MY92 and doesn't seem to have an idle control valve.

I had a my92 9000cs (2.0lpt) and its on the top of the engine just comming off the inlet manifold a small cylinder with two pipes going into and a electrical connector on the end.

Its all held in place by a rubber bracket that slides into place. if you pull the bonnett and look just look around the inlet manifold you should see it (its where it was on my 92 9000).

Failing that I can post a pic but wont be able to do so today.

throttle flap could be sticky as well
pull the intake pipe off going to the throttle housing
it(the throttle flap) should be nice and shiney silver
Mine was claggy brown and sticky and gooey...

bit o carb cleaner and a clean lint free cloth did the business

good luck...
