I hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

From time to time (started in the last month or so - never happened before that) when I switch on the ignition, the dash lamps (Ign, Oil, etc) do not light up.

The engine turns OK but will not fire.

Switch off and back on again immediately, lights all come on and engine turns and fires.

It seems to be the switch itself since, if I turn the key "briskly", it seems to be more likely to make a good contact and go.

Is it possible/feasible to clean up the contacts in the switch and if so - how?

Thanks

Dave

Do you by any chance have an immobiliser fitted? My chum's Griffin does similar things if you do not hold the Clifford immobiliser widget in just the right place so the sensor can read it.

Thanks Mark

I've got the "standard" Saab immob/alarm/remote locking set-up so don't know if this would apply.

Good idea though, I'll try again tonight with the spare "widget" and also off the keyring.
