De-gunked the IAC last night (big thanks to the Electric Dream and Haynes ). Car idles MUCH better and also boosts better, feels smoother !

I am not that competent so don't know where all the gunk comes from....any offers? Also, how often is a de-gunk necessary? Can the build up of gunk be prevented?

Taking off the air ducts and hoses was OK but I wondered, as you do, is it worth replacing them? Would there be any benefit? What would it cost? Is it an OE jobby or are there better/cheaper alternatives? The car is 1989 9000 turbo.

Cheers,

Bill

The engine breather. Hence vapourised oil (intended to lubricate upper cylinders via air intake) collects on the sides of the ICV.

As this is normal, I can't see any point replacing hoses unless they have perished or been damaged.
