Hello my automatic transmission seems a bit messed up.
I have a 1993 SAAB 9000 CSE
Basically I can not shift the clutch into a gear and have it lock in place. The clutch merely locks into place in the N and P position and just glides by all other options without locking in place.
I changed the transmission fluid as a start to solving the problem because the fluid was a bit brown but this does not seem to have improved my condition.
I was told the problem could be because of worn gear rings and was told to remove the gear box cover to examine the insides.
I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the cover and have so far only found two screws that are located on the sides of the clutch area. One screw was located at the place which is to the right of the lower part of my leg when I am sitting in the driver seat and the other was located on the left side of the lower leg where the passenger sits. (pic enclosed)
I removed those screws and the only thing that moved was the plastic compartment that is in front of the gear selector. This item is where the park brake fits into and where there is a flip up storage case.
If anyone can provide any suggestions on how to remove the cover or even offer an idea to what is wrong and how to fix it I would be forever indebted to this forum.
