I meant to say this before but the temp gauge on my 91 2.3 auto (car warm) always sits nearly 3/4 way up the gauge.
I doesn't take long for fan to come on (at least I know it works, mind you)when stuck in traffic. But could this my thermostat is opening to late,or is maybe because the car's been sitting for a while before I got it (about 8/9 month's,so I was told) it may just need new coolant, anyone any idea's?

This a typical 9000 problem,...mine does it too ! I would recommend doing the whole cooling system,...Thermo fan switch(82*),thermostat(82*),and of course flush the system. Parts should run about $50(U.S.) from www.thesaabsite.com ,plus an hour labor if it goes to a shop.

P.S.-Check all coolant hoses/lines for swelling,cracks,& deterioration.

Hi Justin

No not yet,I'm gonna do it tommorrow, but like you say I'll drain the system and put in a new thermostat and take it from that.
Cause after all the car has been lying for months (so I'm told),so maybe the old coolant is no use now,I'm not sure I dont know much about coolant.
