My wife's 1991 9000 2.3s turbo, has a problem with second gear, it jumps out when going down the gears not up the gears. Iv'e change the mounts thinking that might help, but no. Does anyone have any idea what it might be.Hopefully something simple.

When you say going down the gears do you mean when you are decellerating that thay gear? If so it could be down to a worn synchromesh.

yes it is when you are decellerating. If it is the synchromesh is it easy to fix.

It's a gearbox out job, so even if it's easy, it's not cheap

There's just an outside chance though it may be caused by a failed engine mounting...

Iv'e already changed both mountings so I guess I'll have to putup with it. Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem with mine. I am getting the gearbox reconditioned in a few weeks so I'll let you know.

Oops, maybe not a few weeks any more, The clutch is now slipping so I've booked it in for Tuesday!
