Ok, I currently run a 2005 Saab Aero convertible.
I'm off to look at a 2001 pre GM era 93 hatchback. (Manual gearbox)
It's done circa 130,000 miles. I'm looking for a second car to haul my mountain bike around at weekends.
As you can imagine, the convertible isn't practical but it's a great car with very low mileage in very good condition.
Just looking for some advise on what I should be checking.
Many thanks in advance.
By the way, I love Saabs, this is my 4th one in 7 years, but have all been 2004 or later.
This is my first foray into older, classic Saabs.

lexigton013,

Just look for signs that the car has been well looked after. Speaking with the seller will reveal whether there have been regular oil changes. Also if they offer a pile of receipts, that's a good sign. Check for oil leaks. Front N/S corner of the head / block is a regular place. Also down the back of the block, the oil pressure switch has a tendency to leak and drip onto the exhaust, causing an oily smell.

Ask if the sump has been dropped and the pick up strainer cleaned, likewise check the condition of the crankcase ventilation pipes. If they are getting spongy they should be replaced with the most up to date version ( No.6 I think ).

If the sump has not been done then plan to do it SOON.

Paul @ Kippen.
