Upon checking my coolant level today on my 23.T Griffin, I noticed a grey sludge had accumulated around the neck of the tank and on the base of the cap.

I have had 2 head gaskets on the car both by Saab Specialist , the one was combined wih re-weldbing a crack in the 4th cylinder.

Could this be the cylinder head going again?? any help appreciated

I noticed a similiar substance in my coolant tank on my old Automatic 2.3l. Would your car happen to be an automatic? Turned out that this was automatic transmisson fluid mixing with coolant. A new radiator was put in and the cooling system was flushed. Clean coolant ever since, even after I sold the car.

Just a possibility.

my auto box had a coolant leak about a month ago so this could be it!

its going into the garage on thursday so I shall let you know how things get on

Sounds like the radiator is on the way out. Just glad I could offer a tid bit of information.
