Ok I admit it I am a boy racer at heart
My son persuaded me to go to one of these rwyhb meets at crail airfield...
boy did i enjoy blowing the doors off everything that I ran with ...
Kept away from the nos boys tho...
Best time was 14.88 secs and a final speed of 100.2 mph.
This was the fastest fwd car of the day...
scoobies were posting 13-14.5's
cosworths 12-14's

thought The car did quite good (I was terrible ...re-action time typically 0.5 secs)

next time octane boost and re-gap the plugs
and take all the cr*p out the car

lowered final drive

I did not think the times were that impressive (my re-actions especially so )
also the car did not get off the line very well
My best times came when I dribbled it off the line (very unimpressive) got it into second and then nailed it ..
without drama .. just takes off
I guess if I could get it off the line better
New shocks /different tyre pressure..I bet I could get a second off...
One nice thing my son reports that when it takes off it screams ..nice noise !!

ylee, which final drive do you have?
And did you have to alter the speedo or speed sensor?

I will look back at the abbott documentation
but it was the one down from the aero which as I understand has a uniquely high final drive..
I remember it to be the same as a fpt...
no need to change speedo settings abbott took care of that ...I had the gearbox re-built at the same time so maybe they changed the speedo drive as well..but I do not think so

If you mean you've now got a final drive ratio similar to one in a FPT then I believe it is no different!!!! At least Andy Bowles FPT is the same ratio as my Aero.

Nick's right. However, the 2.3T up to and including '92 had a lower final drive. 2nd gear revved out at about 60, while the later 2.3T (including the Aero) revved out at about 70.
