Got a front center armrest, now need to fit it and so need a fixing kit, have been to 2 SAAB dealers, one never returned promised tele call with info and other says it is not available separately from a new armrest (at £174). Does anyone know of a dealer who has got them or has a part number to quote, failing that is there a substitute that would do the job, cheers.

As long as you also have the black plastic stand that fits to the back of the arm rest and sits flush next to the rear ashtray all you will need is the captive nuts - less than £10 from your dealer. I had one as standard in my last 2 CDE's but my current CDE didnt come with one so I nicked it out of my previous. However its a pig to fit the captive nuts so spend £25 at your local Saab specialist and they will fit them for you and then you can fit the arm rest, otherwise they will do the whole job but you are looking at more money. If you havent got the plastic stand I would try a breakers yard.

Not got a plastic stand but 2 black metal brackets which go either side of the console at the rear and the holes in the brackets at the bottom match up with the rectanglar holes, my problem is 2 dealers say (well one did the other just ignored me) I cannot have the captive nuts without also buying the armrest which I already have. Could someone give me a part number or the name of a dealer who will actually try to get the captive nuts.

The captive nuts are available from anyh nut andbolt specialist and many highstreet stores.

Also, the Compaq server racking system uses hundreds of them (they come in bags of 100), so try talking to anyone who works with compaq servers.

They are nothing special, just a square coach nut with a pressed steel frame around shaped like the below

| NUT |

The captive nuts are avaliable from any dealer so your local dealer is pulling a fast one. Try Saab Turners Hill Garage 01342 716322 and they will post them to you normally post free. The metals parts you speak of hold the rest in place but there are two additonal plastic covers that go over the metal parts. They dont form part of the structure - cosmetic only.
