I was disappointed to find my 95 Aero didn't have the extending load bay floor - I thought they were standard but it seems it was an option. So I wonder: is it possible to retro-fit one? - are they common enough to find as a used spare? - and if so, would it be difficult to fit?

Yes you can retro-fit them, SAAB will supply them as a kit for about £650 iirc. To be honest with you I've *never* seen one in a 9-5 and given I must have driven something like a few hundred 9-5's it can't be that common although it may be that I never checked to see if they had one...

I had one on my 1999 9-5 SE as the previous owner had every extra that Saab made fitted including electric heated and ventialted seats. The load floor is superb and a doddly to operate. It will take 200kg!! We often used to use it watching my son play hockey in the rain. Open tailgate, pull out floor and sit down under shelter. It takes up no more room than the normal floor. We needed a new upright freezer and went to Comet. Found one and the assistant asked when we wanted delivery. We said we'd take it. His comment was 'they are heavy and hard to get into and out of a car' No problem I said, we'll take it now!! Out they came with it on trolley. I pulled floor out and 2 of us placed freezer onto trolley and just gently pushed it into car. Shop assistant and his 'loadmaster' mate were gob smacked. Get home, reversed up to front door and just pulled freezer out to a point we could handle it easily. No climbing into side doors and trying to shove.Go for it. Have a look on Parts Connexions as I've seen one on there before and also that auction site.I must admit I've never seen on ebefore like Quino says but they are about!Just noticed Elk do it for about £250http://www.elkparts.com/saab-95-m98-to-09/...tate.p1214.html
