The exhaust on my 94 CSE lpt is blowing. It is blowing just in front of the concertina bit in front of the cat. I patched it up a few months ago with Gun Gum Tape but now the pipe has corroded all the way around.
I am going to patch it again just to get the next day or two out of it, but I will need to arrange to get it fixed pretty soon.
What are my options? Do I need a whole new section of pipe?, can I get it welded?, or should I just go to Kwkfit and assume the position

I am hoping to sell the car within the next month so I don't want to spend a hell of a lot on it.
Any ideas?

I've been looking at this as well and I don't think you have much option but to have a new downpipe put on. Eurocarparts do one for £90 odd but that is no cheaper than I was quoted by my local garage.

If you were going to keep it I would suggest going to Longlife exhausts. They are doing me a 3" downpipe for £140.

Last time I asked I think these were about £50 from www.twostroke.co.uk

I managed to get mine welded for £5 and its lasted a couple of years now!

Phoned around today - Saab wanted £190 but the best I got was ATS at £105 inc VAT supplied and fitted. So it is going in tomorrow.

A few weeks ago mine went. The Saab specialist i use offered to patch it using a flexi section cut from a donor car - so that's an option for you.

In the end I went for one of Abbott's downpipes

Have it welded at the joint (the original is a welded joint as well!)for a fiver or a tenner and you are fixed for another couple or more years, no need to buy new as these pipes are very well made!
Also, (with all due respect) I would not let a ATS/Kwik-Fit and the like "persons" near my SAAB!
