Bish, do you know any good pubs in the area with large car-parks? If so, suggest a venue and a date with enough time between now and the date for people to sign up to the meet

shudder to think.

There is a free car park large enough for well over a hundred cars at heybridge basin near maldon in essex. (easily found using multmap or streetmap)it is on the river blackwater and has two pubs less than a hundred yards away. I shall enquire at a couple more that have moderately-sized car parks as well.

was thinking last weekend of jan, first weekend of feb? would this be ok for everyone?

Sounds good, probably long enough after new year for people to have sorted themselves out. Set your preferred date and venue when you have one and start a list
This should give adequate time to get a meet going

Hi Bish, we often have Suffolk mini-meets that we have held around the county, all the usual suspects turn up - it'll be posted on here, Saab Central and UK Saabs. Most frequent location is a pub in Ipswich called the Oysters Reach as some come from Norfolk and I am in northeast Suffolk, others come up from Essex. After the one at Southwold harbour (how cold? ) a lot depends on the weather. I don't mind doing a frontier crossing into Essex as a change of venue would be nice.

Well, the Bell at Horndon on the Hill isn't too far from you, John!

As an Ex-Essex lad, I can recommend some nice pubs in the locality, favourite being the Cap and Feathers, Tillingham, and the Golden Lion, Rochford. Unfortunately, none of these have decent car parks.

How about one of the pubs in Stock? Lovely little village, not too far from the A12. Can't remember the name of the first pub on the left from the A12 along the B1007, in Stock, but can recommend it. Fair size Car Park too.

Nice snug of a pub in Old Leigh, too. Parking easy.

wow! excellent response.
will starrt hunting for venue. the village of stock seems a good place for suffolk boys acoming south and the romford lads acoming north as only literally a couple of miles off the good ol' A12. Billy Bragg really did miss a trick when he recorded a song about the A13!!

Another thing will be do we want a saturday meet or a sunday or just leave it to me. I prefer a sat lunchtime as we can all appreciate seeing the cars in daylight

about 1200ish?

need to consult swmbo about which weekend as fatherly duties re sons ice hockey commitments
