When facing the front of the engine, in the top left are a couple of black rubbery engine mounts. connected together.

Should these each have a split in them, or is that a bad thing?

There should be a couple of gaps in the rubber.

They dont look like uniform gaps, more like splits which go most of the way round :

Yeah, that sounds like problem I had on my Carlsson. The bushes were replaced at the 12K service, take them to a specialist who is prepared to replace the bushes only. A dealer will probably try and sell you a complete mounting arm.

They are very simple to replace yourself, I think the kit is like 60 bucks. It is easier to replace the arm, et.c, as I believe 1 of them is pressed in.
