I am new to this post. Recently became very interested in the SAAB cars. I have a 86 9000 Turbo. It need an engine rebuild. I have two engine blocks a 900 and a 9000. Both are Turbo engines. I need to know if there are any differences in the engine blocks or which block you would advise me to rebuild as a stock engine and why?

Thanks

Welcome to Saabscene, Kingeo. Well, one out of two isn't bad - you have to use the 9000 engine. The 900 has a different block - the sump is part of the transaxle, whereas on the 9000 the sump is part of the engine. If it were a NG900, then you'd be able to use the engine - these didn't appear 'til '94 in the 'states. However, there'd probably be many electrical issues to sort.
