I have a loved 9000 cd auto which is starting to run a little low on steering fluid. I looked in my maual and it says I must use SAAB fluid. Is there an alternative I cen get down at Halfords? A friend said he thought I could use any GM steering fluid, but would like some quick advice from you guys first.

Thanks a lot :)

Welcome to Saabscene Dave !

I remember some old threads on this subject, I think the point was that Saab's own fluid is different, and probably for a good reason. Try using the search function, and the experts will be here to help later.

Thanks Border Raider

After several searches and much reading finally found a few mentions recommending staying with the SAAB original steering oil.

OK ... now I just have to waste half a day going to main dealer and back ;-)

You are on the right track, unfortunately it is not auto transmission fluid like many other power steering systems. It is a special fluid made by Texaco and unfortunately best bought from a dealer.

cheers
