Long time no post - car has been behaving rather well bless it!

However I have noticed over the last few weeks that when I unlock the car first thing in the morning the central locking seems rather slow. Yet any other time during the day it is fine...any ideas?

Could be the battery, after standing overnight.

What's the voltage reading on start-up, before the alternator kicks in?

If you manually lift up the drivers side lock first thing in the morning with your fingers, check to see if it is stiff. If so the linkage behind the door panel is needing lubrication, mine was doing the same thing until it blew the fuse.
