Hi all;

I've just bought a '94 Saab 9000CSE turbo, totally stock. I've upgraded the air filter to a K&N pod, and am now looking to increase the boost a little.

I was looking at manual boost controllers but have recently found on the net some sites that talk about upgrading the APC box, or tweaking the pots in it. It upgrades the base boost, max boost and the sustain for the max boost. These are found at:

http://web.inter.nl.net/users/turbo-team-europe/apc.htm
http://216.78.172.244/turbo_folder/turbo_apc_docs.htm
http://www.sacsaabs.org/speed2.htm

Does anyone know if my model 9000 has the APC that takes this "tweak"? What's the best settings (resistors etc) for max boost increase, without hitting the fuel cut-off? I'm a computer technician so I'm confident with a soldering iron...

Cheers.

Er no, your '94 has nothing as crude as APC...

The Trionic engine management system in your car is (still) one of the most advanced within the automotive industry. Flipside is that for upgrading the performance, you will have to get it reprogrammed by one of a select few Saab tuners - most of them do offer 'plug and play' exchange units, though.

Cheers...

I read the workshop manual after getting off the 'net yesterday and found out about the trionic engine management.

Would shortening the wastegate actuator rod increase base boost, or is this for a different model?

Does increasing the base boost by this method affect any other part of the engine management, like the overboost threshold?

Thanks again for all the great info...
