Yes, I've done that, and it has no effect on the lambda as it is feet after it.
To the car, a cat is just a mild exhaust blockage.
Take that out and you ahve quixker spool up and better boost higher up the rev range, but with a little more noise around 3000rpm.

Also a bypass pipe is much cheaper than changing a cat

In fact.. just gut the cat.. job done. Visual - Check, emissions check - Basic/Standard - Check.
