Dashboard rattle and creak!

1903 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  sussex2
This only happens in warm weather - when the outside temp goes over 27 degrees C, and it happened yesterday: the dashboard starts to rattle/creak, and stops if you put your hand firmly against it or on top of it. Has anyone had any experience with this, and does anyone know of any solutions?

Cheers,

Neil.

I have it permanent on my 95 - eversince we had the hot weather I THINK - but is permanent now though - very frustrating.
I had a couple of creaks in both my 93s and the dealer sorted them. How I don't know. The c93/gm900 is prone to creaking - after a few thousands of miles - as it's such an ancient bodyshell design.

If you have a conv it's a 'feature'. If you have a 'hardtop' it should be possible to do a DIY job with some judicial use of card 'insertions' but advising over the net without hearing where the noise is coming from, is difficult.
They all do it.
Mine sometimes give at quite a loud sort of cracking noise.
Bottom line is that the dash by and large is of poor quality. Reminds me a bit of the old Peugeot 309. The glove box is almost beyond a joke.
Yes, it does seem to governed by the outside temperature.
Despite all this the car has been reliable. However it would take a great deal of persuasion for me to buy another, especially since the GM takeover.
I keep it because it is the devil I know. I am accustomed to it.
