Hi folks first post so here goes:

I have a 2006 "Dame Edna" 9-5 19td which has just let go of its DMF at 49000 miles. I have just picked the car up 5pm today following repair; clutch feels good all the rattles/vibrations having disappeared. However I have suffered a total loss of engine power as if someone has "switched off" the turbo. There is no surge after 2000rpm and the car feels like a knackered old taxi! To cap it all the engine management light has come on whilst driving home.
There are no other problems the engine runs fine apart from this gutless performance. There is no smoke from the exhaust so I think the turbo is OK.
The garage was closed when I took the car back so I plan to return the car Monday morning. I've parked the car up for the weekend in case I do any more damage!
Anyone any suggestions? I suspect it must be something to do with the removal and refitting of the gearbox (maybe a hose off) or could it be more serious? I know the garage should make good but this is VERY FRUSTRATING.
Its as though me Dame Edna has lost her Mojo!!!!!

Thanks in anticipation :-D

Welcome! :)

Don't know enough about the diesel to advise you on this. If you had a petrol car, there would be one or two things than would cause this.

There have been similar posts on the 9-3SS forum about power loss (same engine). Several point to leaks in the inlet system between the turbo and the engine. Either a split intercooler or a hose popped off the intercooler.

But this usually causes some hissing accompanied by black smoke due to the overfuelling - the air is measured before the leak so too much fuel is pumped in, in expectation of the amount of air measured, but some of the air will have gone missing en route.

Thanks for that. To conclude luckily it was a case of a simple vacuum tube not being reconnected when attaching the gearbox. Normal service is resumed; in fact normal service and some!!! New DMF has transformed the car - pulls hard now, seems faster and more crisp to accelerate
Mind you at just over a grand it should do. Luckily warranty company (TWG Services ) have coughed up 2 thirds of that.
Cheers
Richard :D
