has anyone ever noticed the odd cracking noise from the steering column? this happens now and again whether im turning in hard or even when im parking! it doesn't happen all the time but its really annoying me now. any help would be helpful cos im useless when it comes to cars!!!!!

Sometimes the column mountings can get a little slack - it's happened to me twice before. Got my local independent to tighten up the bolts on my last service, and that did the trick.

excuse me for being a bit (thick).what,in simple terms,needs to be tightened up.......? im useless with cars cos i have to pay somebody to this stuff!!!ok with wood tho'-anybody need any diy tips?????

I had a car (non Saab) with a knock on turning that was a loose pinch bolt on the clamp to the rack. Right down in the carpet.

just had a look on the link sorry i forgot to mention its the none adjustable column fitted on my 93 aero. it seems to crack around the steering wheel!!!!!!
