Suspect that you may have a leaking heater matrix - fluid could leak behind the centre console & run down under the carpet.
May be noticed on drivers side if you park with that side sloping to kerb.
Look for dried antifreeze staining if you remove the centre console side panels. Also strange smell (has been described as maple syrup) with heater.
