Has anyone any novel ways of cleaning the above - the flat filter on the GM 900 - I think from memory 9000's are the same? I have the cleaning fluid and oil and was thinking of using some form of shallow tray presumably running the cleaning fluid from the clean side through so the dirt comes away below and does not contaminate the 'inside' or is it better to hold filter vertically and 'baste'with a clean paintbrush.

The instructions from JR say...

1) Remove the filter and tap lightly to dislodge dirt.

2) Wet the filter lightly with cold water.

3) Roll the filter in a shallow bowl containing JR Filter cleaner without allowing the inside of the element to get wet. Remove and leave for 15min whilst the remaining dirt dissolves. (for a flat filter like the one in the NG8900 I imagine you are supposed to lay it dirty side down in a shallow tray)

4) Rinse off with warm water (not high pressure) from the inside outwards, washing away the dirt reminants.

5) Allow the filter to dry naturally.

6) Spray the filter lightly with JR oil spray and check for an even blue colour.

7) Refit the filter.
