Howdy,

Is the light inside the centre console supposed to switch off when you shut the lid? Mine doesent. I had a few cds in there and the heat from the bulb has slightly warped a cd case

Is there some sort of switch somewhere that needs fixing.

Just like, " Does the light in the frezzer ever go out ?" Quick open the door and check !!!
it is switched but where I'm not sure, had this prob on a 1989 9kT, if I remember right it has something to do with the light itself, that's where I would start.

'91my cde the light on mine is ignition controlled.

my 89 9000i is also controlled by the ignition as i found out when i put a cold can of drink in to try to keep it cool for longer

the pesky light warmed up my can of pop a treat

Yes it is controlled by the ignition, but the lid fires it off, it does not stay on!!! there is a swt. that controlles I/O, not sure where though, my9k does not have one, seems only early mod have.
