Something I've been meaning to ask, and Leo's post reminded me.

Does the removal of the cat, still allow the emissions test to be passed OK?

I intend to get an Abbott Stainless system as part of the "master plan" and would like to dump the cat.

It depends on the year of your car and the interpretation of the tester... but the simple answer is that to guarantee a hassle free test pass, post 92 you need a cat...
