So,
It turns out that speedparts no longer sell ECU upgrades for the APC/DI equipped 89-93 Saab 9000 2.3 Turbos if they have TCS fitted.
Speedparts told me that they've had a great many problems with this upgrade and will not sell one to an owner of a TCS equipped car.
The upgrade takes the form of two chips, which the buyer then inserts into the control unit for the Bosch Jetronic fuel controller and into the control unit for the APC/DI unit. Fuel mapping, boost control and direct injection are modified as a result. (The boxes have pluggable chip seats). The upgrade when combined with a 3'' cat back-exhaust and performance airfilter renders a 46HP increase.
It seems however that the modified fuel mapping for the fuel injection system is not particularly compatable with the employed throttle controlled TCS system.
The Abbott ECU upgrade for DI/APC also employs a plug-in chip upgrade.. but only for the APC/DI unit.. the Jetronic ECU is left alone.. an Abbott wastegate capsule is also supplied which completes the upgrade..Not including any upgrades to filter or exhaust system the upgrade is claimed to present a 40HP increase. Abbott state that the TCS system is unaffected by the upgrade and have no problem with the upgrade being fitted to DI/APC cars with TCS.
