Sorry Andrew,
could you locate more precisely the picture in the car? I see what seems the wastegate actuator, but the environment isn't familiar to me.
What support has the turbo beside the exhaust manifold? I thought it was all it needed.

Top right is the front balance shaft tube
Top left id the compressor outleft going to the intecooler
Top centre is the wastegate on the lower rear of the turbo

The tube in the middle is the turbo oil return pipe

the large shiny pipe is the new exhaust down pipe.

The bolt highlighted is on the lower rear of the exhaust turbine housing.

All saab turbo's (i think) are mounted on brackets and just happen to attach to the exhausts rather solidly.

When I did the 2.3T auto head a few weeks ago I found that the turbo to block bracket was there but not connected at the turbo, it is now. Car had full Saab service history but that dosnt really mean too much - my last carly did 40k miles without the bracket and everything was OK.
