I just got a 2005 93 Aero soft top and I find the boot lid rather heavy to lift, my wife finds it very heavy. It stays up ok but needs quite a heave to get it open

I wondered if this is normal or if the pistons might be knackered?

Thx

I've only had my 2011 9-3 Aero convertible for 3-months and had a similar experience (including wife's comments:rolleyes:). Bought a new Saab set from eBay (only ~£20) and it's definitely improved, though still not the lightest!. I reckon it was a combination of gas being lost from the struts compounded with cold weather.

Easily swapped - need to lift the clips out at the ball connections, then just lift off. Fitting the new ones required the assistance of pipe grips (slip-joint type) as the length was just over the gap between fixings and it's impossible to compress the struts by hand. Just watch the clips - until they're home, they can shoot off, but easily refitted using the flats on the fitting.

Worth getting a Haynes manual.
