as of today/been away /cumbria/aberdeen,when booting car in 2nd gear,2lt lpt. it hiccups before boosting,and not at top end/prob.w/gate failure? by the way do not flush engines.....it only releases [expletive deleted] into oil ways/i speak through experience.

Can only think of the obvious this time of night. So: check all hoses and their connections; test the PCV check valve (the one way valve in the smaller crankhouse vent hoses) it should be one way but can rupture. Also test the dump valve. If none of that then check the APC solenoid (your model LPT has one I think).

I had the problem of wastegate actuator rod coming away from the wastegate (fine at spring end). If you have side to side movement then the 'R' clip has likely dropped off. Just replace the clip. The effect is a reluctance to accelerate but fine at cruising speeds (because it's a running as a n/a).

Wastegate diaphragm is less likely to rupture on an LPT as it runs fairly low boost levels. HTH
