Had a gentle drive into work today as it was so cold and icey, but when I stopped at some traffic lights in Norwich, I was greeted by a thick grey mist in the mirror.
Turbo I thought
Bought some spare oil and water for the 35 mile drive home, and the cloud cleared up
Then 10 miles from home it started to smoke while lifting off and when accelerating.
5 miles from home the low rad light comes on.
I stop and add the 1.5 litres of volvic water i'd bought which just filled it to the bottom of the header tank.
Drive the last 5 miles, and just as I get home the low rad light comes on again.
Definitely nice to be able to do such things on one's own accord. Be one heckuvuh bill if my friend and I had to pay someone to build our racecar's motor every other season.
Sorry Andrew I just pulled the head off my friends' Aero the other day - same No. 1 cylinder was full of antifreeze. His had 130k on it. Is this coincidence or is the No. 1 cylinder more prone to blowing the gasket?
Hope the new year bodes a little better for your Carly than the last
