Has anyone elsed noticed what good shots birds are? How come they can always hit wipers, doorhandles and locks, heater grills? But this one tops the lot - I just found one on the tread of a front wheel of my 9000Carlsson - with wheels pointing straight ahead!

Mann & Woodland (Saab Specialist) are just a couple of blocks from the beach in Hove. Shiny Saabs are regular targets for seagulls - one such bird opened it's bomb hatch resulting in a direct hit on my Saab with Shrapnel from the blast hitting myself and the mechanic!

I drove home and cleaned it off immediately - but the napalm properties of the strike had managed to slightly damage the paintwork in little more than 15 minutes!

People I know in classic car clubs around the place where I live in northern Spain are giving their cars a teflon (PTFE) coating. If it can manage sulfuric acid it has to manage bird drops. And it's not a very expensive solution (about 180 GBP in Spain).

I a year or so I wil have my 9k Aero paintwork and teflon coating done.

you can protect against salt and UV if you wax the car with Mer. It sould hold out against the lime in birdbombs if you get to them reasonably quickly for around 9 quid. Also acts as a mild cutting paste and removes the oxides from the paint.
