i have a 1994 9k cse just recently it has struggled going into its first forward gear,if i accelerate with it in drive from stationary it waits approx 10 seconds before pulling away, once it is moving it is totally fine until i stop again and then the same fault sometimes occurs or it will drive fine.the car drives straight away in reverse.i have tried dropping all of the transmission fluid and replacing it this seemed to help briefly but on the way to work this morning and the car pulled away fine and then at a set of traffic lights just refused to move completely,is this the gearbox?. or does the drive chain need tightening,if so how do i do this? is it a specialist job all help greatly appreciated please.

It does seem as though you have the same problem as me.

I spoke to a ZF gear box specialist, and if changing the fulid and cleaning/changing the filter does not help, then I'm afraid the box is terminal.

You could try a triple fluid change to get all the old fluid out but if it doesn't work, you have three options.

1. Have the box rebuilt.
2. Buy a 2nd hand box.
3. Convert to manual.

I'm taking option 2 and then selling mine.
