Hi - I am having a standard Saab clutch installed on Thursday (Maptun 3 has eaten the old one...) I was wondering if I should upgrade? I am reassured by Maptun themselves that the standard one should be OK.
The stock clutch plate is sufficient to handle above 300 hp. It's the pressure plate that tends to be insufficient, even below 300 hp. If in the future you might want a little more than stage 3, I would consider replacing the pressure plate now, while everything is apart. If you look carefully at the MapTun site, you'll see that the same clutch kit is used for stage 4 & stage 7. That clutch-kit has the Sachs Race Engineering pressure plate, which is exactly the same as a stock pressure plate, except for the spring/clamping force. But if you weren't changing from a stage 3, then the stock clutch should be sufficient.
