It can do. If the power button is pressed on the stereo system when the key is out the stereo will come on. If I remember correctly, it shuts off automatically after 1 hour if the key isn't inserted to conserve battery power.

Hi Kev....
This is what I sort of suspected.....
Mine works without the key since the parrot was fitted..
I suspect that somehow power is getting to where it shouldnt and thats stopping the car from sleeping (awww bless)..
Tomorrow afternoon I have the Parrot temporarily uninstalled (until my TEL1 wiring loom appears)..
For safety I have removed the fuse that powers the Radio (and Parrot).. Its number 22 in the boot (30 amp)..
Thanks again to all who have responded.

depend whether oe or a/m..i know the MY03-06 you can listen to the audio without the fob in place, don't even need to lean in and switch the audio off just lock the doors, audio shuts off..

At last...
Good news and bad news..
The good news is that the loom I bought works perfectly in that the radio doesn't flash any more and the parrot system works just fine..

The bad news is that due to the fitter more than likely having a crappy on at having to re do the Parrot installation my center vent is all disconnected and wobbly!
From what I can gather they are a nightmare to re assemble...
After much cursing I have managed to remove it and all the bits and pieces but it seems I am missing one of the thin bits of metal...
There doesn't seem to be much on the web in the way of detailed instructions. I have talked to the Saab specialists in Kirkham who did my cam belt etc and they said they would rebuild it for me...
PHEW !!!

as long as it ends well thats the main thing, what i dont understand is why the fitter didnt just use the adaptor cable in the first place to the tel 1 connector and job sorted without the need to remove any vents etc
