I have spent the afternoon playing in one of these and I must say I was impressed, so much so that I left a deposit for it, I have a CLK but have no experience on AMGs anyone here had anything to do with them?
thanks

Yep, I had an 02 C32 for 6 months and was generally pleased with it. A few electrical niggles and the dealer wasn't overly helpful, but nothing much to complain about.

Deceptively quick, but to the extent that there isn't much fun in it I'm afraid. Point and shoot. Easily tuned apparently.

Sadly I parked it in an NCP where some [choose you own swear word] ploughed down the side of the car from front wheel to rear wheel destroying every panel on the way. The said person did a runner, I lost my no claims, I also had the misfortune to have a Nissan Micra for 2 weeks while the car was repaired, & I got caught speeding in it (from 354bhp down to 60bhp & then get done!). Anyway the repairs were poor, I got very dishearted and sold up. I lost £8k or so in depreciation in 6 months

Despite all that I still miss it

Very comfortable for a powerful car and makes a good family vehicle without compromising. And best of all you don't see many of them around.

Congratulations on your choice! Enjoy

It felt very quick, I've just been looking at a few figures for it, I didn't realise they are quicker than the new m3, its down as 4.6 to 60 4.8 in the m3 10.8 to 100 11.5 in the m3

Looks like fun

Where can we use this performance

It baffles me that the big german manufacturers are indulging themselves in a horsepower race, because if you have driven on the A8 between Stuttgart and Munich, or the A9 between Ingolstadt and Munich there are not many places on the Autobahn you can push these cars. Yes, there may be stretches you can drive at unlimited speeds BUT they are punctuated by areas where you have to slow down to 50 mph

Yep your right, we should all sell our big powerful Saab turbos and what ever else we own and all buy smart cars and disconnect the turbo and take one of the spark plugs out, that should keep it to 50mph

The stretch of road between Trier and your old pad in Landstuhl wasn't too bad, plus if you keep off the concretes bahns it's ok.

But that hideous stretch of road between Munich and Stuttgart I find irritating so much I avoid it if possible. Last June it took 4 hours to do the journey (that's why I was late on my journey if you remember) and the only highlight was seeing and waving to Mr & Mrs SGould from opposite sides of the motorway.

The Landstuhl Trier Wittlich section was the scene of the fastest drive I had in my Rover 620, late one midweek summer evening.

67 miles in 38 minutes - almost 106 mph. Five up with holiday luggage

Next morning I found the front tyre was flat with a coat hanger through it......

Hi Mpen,

I've driven an S55 and all I can say is Wow!
It's performance figures look to be similar to the C32 but they can't really describe the experience. Immense pick-up and instant response in kick-down can catch you unawares if you're not expecting it. I'd guess that the one major difference between the 2 cars is that the S55 is a luxo-barge and, no matter what they do to the suspension, it's never going to be able to use it's performance on a wee, twisty road. I would imagine that you'll go through (very expensive) tyres at an incredible rate as well.
