Tonight I did a little work on the airfilter box on the Scaero.

Having looked at the intake, and my recent boost surging probs (yes I'm going to change the Wastegate actuator very soon), I thought I'd eliminate 'low pressure compressor stalling'.

So off with the trumpet with it's restrictive 46mm vent hole (1662 mm2) and instantly out to a 70mm vent hole (3845 mm2), a 2.3 times area increase.

The drill 5 14mm additional holes 154 mm2 each, 770 mm2 in total.

3845 + 770 = 4615mm2 or 2.78 times the venting area.

A quick test drive shows a little more intake noise, but a very much faster low trottle response (on top of the 3" JT doen pipe), and peak boot at 2500 of 22-23 psi (and I hit over boost 2-3 times on 3/4 throttle).

The surtging also disappeared when cold, but came back when hot.

Fox,

Yes the trumpet now resides in the garage, something the car has never done

Carly next

The hammers were to modify a wall this weekend in stoke. A 14lb sledge just wedges nicely between seat back and the rear of the boot so it doesn't slide.

And now exhaust mods.

Tonight I fitted my home made cat bypass
(only for temporary use).

Old (well two weeks old...)
3" Home made rolled and brazed sleave bypass pipe (1380mm long)
