It is illegal for anyone to sell/supply R12 anymore. There are now, however, replacements for both the gas and the lubricant which allow the original hoses and seals to be used.
I suggest you ask around or look in the phone book for your local A/C specialist. They should be able to spot the leak, and if not they can put in a flourescent dye, and see the leak under UV light. And once you've replaced the offending part they can recharge and you'll be ready for the summer.
