ABS woes again..

I drove our Saab 9-3 sports estate (2006) this week only to get an ABS error not long after leaving home, and a grinding noise when applying the brakes, (ABS kicking in) it was very intermittent and the speedo I could tell was registering an incorrect speed, after a few miles it pinged a bigger warning and the mainABS malfunction message appeared, now the brakes fine because ABS switched itself off. I've replaced all four wheel bearing earlier this year including finding a break in an ABS wire in a rear wheel so am somewhat disappointed:(

I plugged in an opcom reader today and got these errors:

co274 Isolation Time Range/performance
(59) - Not present
C0035 - Front Left Wheel Speed sensor range/performance
(2A) - Not present

So I removed the front wheel and had look at the wires , the seem fine, in fact it's only a few inches of covered wires so much less for the elements to attack, the connector looked fine, so I tried to measure the speed sensor, if I put the multi meter on it set to ac voltage I get nothin when I spin the wheel disk, but it's so hard to spin I'm wondering maybe I'm not turning it fast enough?
I set it to ohms and get a reading of .416, I couldn't find if this is right or not.

I've attached some pics, please can anyone help advise on what to do next?

Am really short of cash & can't take it to the garage, I thought I'd sorted it, my biggest fear is the new wheel hub bearing has failed , it was a night mare changing these things, I got the parts from Eurocar parts, so I suppose they will cover the part but I'll still have to do all the work.
Appreciate any help..

For now I've pulled fuse 33, the main ABS error is now gone but I can see the icon light up on the dash and a triangle warning light. But now the speedo isn't working at all, so I'm wondering if the connection has gone completely, pulling the fuse doesn't stop the speedo does it? With the rear wire connection I fixed I could disconnect the wheel end and a little connection box under the car and test continuity, the front wheel wire goes up into the engine compartment then into the loom, so not sure how to test that.

I had read this as you meaning the wheel hub bearing, never heard of a reluctor ring, maybe thats it, thanks for the post, I'll check the front wheel again, fortunately it's the one wheel that doesn't have a locking nut, god knows how I'm going to solve that one..

I checked by both rear wheels today from the wheel sensors to the joint box under the car, and all wiring is fine, speedo is intermittent but if I pull the fuse 33 that stops abs from working and I get normal brakes, the speedo doesn't work at all..what does that mean is it the main ABS unit?

As if all this wasn't enough I've lost the locking wheel nut arghhhhh, I remember taking it for wheel alignment after I finished the last wheel hub bearing, the mechanic must have forgotten to give it back to us..

Appreciate any help or advice..

I checked the front wheel wiring to the ABS module and all wires checked ok, I couldn't see the reluctor ring, I presume you can only inspect it by remove the wheel hub bearing, not something I want to do again:)
I am now wondering as all the wires seem to check ok could it be the ABS module? pulling fuse 33 so the ABS is disconnected, stops the warning but I get no speedometer how is that connected to the ABS module? & can't find any other info, I'm not sure how else to proceed, I'm wondering if I remove the ABS module I could send it off to be checked?
Any other advice?

Have you got a copy of WIS ?
Click on the link and follow .

truble is you could send off the module and come back NFF . So money down the drain
get a copy of wis and fault find via that
but I do think BBS remain use to be able to test units .
The wheel sensors ( or reluctor ring ) is integral with the hub as you say . But also there coukd be dirty connections ( water ingress ) such like but they can all be a pain in the rear trying to problem solve this sort of stuff .

Wow thats going to be a huge help, I didn't know there was a copy of WIS , thank you so much for that and the advice, I pretty good at fixing stuff , the trick finding where the fault is:)

Thank you again..
