Cabin Heater only blows cold air. If I put it on Re-circulate, ECON, fan on 3 bars, 88 F. degrees, it will blow maybe 60 F. degree air, when ambient is 40 F. degrees. Still too cold for the wife. I understand that there are 2 likely culprits: heater (coolant) mixing valve and flapper (air mixing) valve. The latter could be a problem with either the servo control motor, or the control arm. Question is: where are they located? How to change them (like what has to be removed to access them)? Are they expensive? Car is a (US) LHD convertible 2002. Diagrams? Thanks!

If you set it to HI does it blow hot air ??? if so the valves are operating as expected. I believe the CC system looks a various sensors in / around the car to work out where the heating / cooling valves should be positioned in relation to the required internal temp. You can also calibrate the CC panel by holding certain buttons, this should move all motors / valves through their min / max range of travel and show any error codes on the panel display.

To start the CC test start the engine and then press AUTO and OFF simultaneously.(this is for a 9-5 but it should be the same for a (9-3)

Tried the diagnostic, and it was pretty obvious, as you could hear the various changes as the system ran through it. The only thing on either the CC was "0" So, that must be the code. I could hear the various servo's working, and fan variations. Did it twice, and no difference. Still blowing cold. My wife, bless her heart, said that if the motor was working, but an arm was broken off one of the flappers, it may only detect the servo, not the flap, itself.....Hmmmmm.

0 means no error codes are being generated, e.g. everything is OK. If I remember correctly flaps also have sensors for their positions, so a broken link would throw an error.

Open the hood and look for two coolant pipes going towards the cabin. Feel if they are warm (after a modest drive). If they aren't, you have clogged heater or air in cooling system (less likely).

If the pipes that go to the heater matrix are warm i would think that the valve that opens to feed warm water to the interior of the car is not operating / siezed.

I would try and locate this valve and see if the mechanics / electrics of the valve are OK .
