Still having a problem with my a/c. A week or so ago, took the car to a local indy because the a/c wasn't blowing cold at all. They found a blown fuse, added oil and 2 pounds of refrigerant. Everything seemed fine with a quick test.

Then, I realized that the a/c was cutting out after 5 minutes or so. I checked and adjusted the clutch air gap per BillJ's procedure (took 1 shim out which brought the gap into spec, left 1 shim), and thought everything was fine. The a/c now runs for 10 minutes or so, but it still cuts out.

Any other thoughts of things I can check before I hand over a blank check to the indy to have them diagnose something serious and expensive?

Thanks,

mike

In talks with my local a/c specialist who was looking into the rather unexpected decompression of my a/c he told me that there is a temperature cut off which will dis-engage the compressor if it gets too hot. Unfortunetely for me this didn't work on mine as the control unit seems to have failed which a) leaves the a/c compressore engaged, B) does not turn on the rad fan to cool the a/c rad

So I'd check the overheat sensor a/c control unit because it might be actually working properly and saving your a/c from an explosion.
