I am in the process of doing a complete engine rebuild on my 1986 9000. I am using a head from a 1989 9000. Is there any difference between these heads? I noticed the 86 head has a tube over the cam that provide oil to the cam. The 89 head does not have this type system.
Is there concern for oil delivery/ to the cam shaft on the 89 head?

The early T16 heads had external (breakable!!)oil feed lines for the cams which were incorperated into the head in later years.

The heads from 1984 through 1993 should interchange. From 1994 the heads changed and can't be fitted back to a pre 94 model.

Andrew,
In more than one respect, I am a newbie to the "Saab Scene." My 86 9000 engine rebuild is just about completed. I was a bit worried that I had made a major boo boo so to speak after realizing I had no place to install the cam oil feeder tube on the 89 head.
This is a great site.

Thanks
George
