please help. have just closed my tailgate on my 08 93 estate & dash warning saying boot open so went to open & close again but now won't open. can here motor trying to work so that seems ok. is there any way of opening it from the inside so i can try & see what is going on.

On the inside of the tailgate there is a rubber cap covering a small hole in the carpeted area of the latch. Remove the plug and insert a large screwdriver in the hole. Turn it counter clockwise, and push at the same time. It should release. The actual release has a 5/16" square recess in it, but a large screwdriver will work if it fits. When the release switch on my '08 Turbo X went intermittent I filed a square end on a long wooden dowel to use as a tool to save crawling in over the seats, until I got the switch replaced.
