We just bought a 2011 9-3 saloon and are unable to get phones to pair with Bluetooth.

Bluetooth is activated and set to visible via the ADD device menu. Yet when searching for the car from a phone, it only appears fleetingly, if at all.
Other symptoms are that the car only shows with its MAC address rather than the "UHP" name devices & only once has a phone been able to handshake with it; failing with 'incorrect PIN'.

Both phones tested are Android (version 6 & 7).

Our guess is that the Bluetooth module might need replacing. Before we go to the time & expense though, can anybody shed some light please - is this a common problem that has an elementary solution?

Thank you.

Try disconnecting the car Battery for 30 minutes.make sure the key is NOT in the ICM at all whilst doing this
Once battery reconnected put each key in the ICM for 10 second and reset anti pinch control on front windows.
It is a fault and normally corrected with above method.
As for replacing the Bluetooth module it can be expensive for what is a basic Bluetooth system.
Better off getting a parrots hands free kit .

We had a go but were unsuccessful. Perhaps we are not following this correctly?

To be sure, when inserting each key into the ICM: Is it simply a case of waiting 10 seconds or does the key require turning to ON or START?

Window pinch protection: Is this necessary for Bluetooth reactivation or is just included in the instructions as 'remember to do this' task?

Thanks again.

Inserting each key and window pinch control has nothing to do with Bluetooth activation.
Sounds like your Bluetooth module has gone wobbly.

It looks likely.

Assuming there is nothing else can be done in terms of configuration via OBD or Tech2, we'd be grateful to hear from anyone who has a spare they'd be happy to for us borrow for a swap-out test please (and nr enough to Basingstoke, UK).

Part No: 13304898 (maybe also compatible with 12778837)
