Just had update from wmss
engine is out / dismantled in a 1000 pieces
need two new engine mounts (surprise surprise !)
but drive train looks ok but for a couple of cv joint boots which are just on the verge of splitting
surprisingly driveshafts/cv joints etc in good shape (they must be tough !!)
Engine looks in good shape with no probs with head or bores
so the engine is off to the fettler
probably just replace the rings and re-hone the bores
he starts on the g-box tomorrow (ouch )
Luckily wmss has taken some piccies so I will post them when I get my paws on them

so far so good ....

I can confirm that the aeromonster is currently running with 0bhp, plenty of room in the engine bay though. When I picked up the CD John was doing some work on the steering rack. There was also a nice shniey strut brace waiting to go in.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the car when it's complete.

I was in wmss yesterday getting my alternator sorted out on the aero. I was looking over your car and talking to John about what you are having done..... err, yes, you are mad!! and yes it is in 1000 pieces!

engine at the menders
gearbox in pieces
oh dear have I done the right thing ?

engine ..
good condition considering
new shells /big ends to be fitted
lighten/balance and polish the crank
shot peen the con rods, polish and match weight
pistons are ok so new rings and re-hone the bores
head...ported and big exhaust valves new valve springs and stem oil seals
lighten the flywheel
Gearbox
not too bad ...
a few synchro's /baulk ring and a coupla bearings
clean out the abbott gearbox goo...

I will be posting pictures when I can transfer from my work e-mail to home
surprisingly I can get only one piccy on a floppy disc...
