It is not possbile to purchase and replace the sender on its own. You will need to buy the complete coolant expansion tank.

anyone know where I can get the low coolant sending unit for my 97 900 se expansion tank ?,looks like you have to buy it with the expansion tank

You can't get it separately. I needed one too, so I bought the expansion tank with sensor off Ebay for £20. You can get them from breakers for about the same price (usually around £10-15 + £10 ship). A lot cheaper than the silly £60 saab wants for it.
Just swap the sensors once you get the tank, no need to swap the tank itself.
