While scouring the forums I found this...

the yellow object is the PCV valve? My car (91 9000 CD) does not have this! When I got the car, the tab was broken off for the line (black plastic peice, lower right) and I had a vacuum leak where the other end goes. So the mechanic just stuck on a new plastic peice and a peice of vacuum tubing. 91s are supposed to have this part?

Can't see the picture but if your SAAB is a turbo it should have a PCV check valve where you describe it. Without it the carnkcase can pressurize which means oil coming out of your oil filler cap and possible damage to the oil seals as the pressure seeks the route of least resistance to escape by.

I'll be eating my shoe if this is the cause of the mystery misfire I've had since I got the car. It's atleast causing an A:F innacuraccy. I'll let you all know if it does the trick. Thanks!
