1800 rpm stumble could it be the clutch?

Hi, my 00 9-5 2.3 LPT with 217k stumbles and jerks when I give it 3/4 throttle at 1800rpm. I am cruising normally and go to pass and it bucks and won't take off like it used to... If I downshift and get the revs up to 2500, I can usually make the pass... Is this a sign the clutch or throw out bearing is done? I have driven this car 130k since I got it and have not
Replaced the clutch (yet)..
Thanks for any help...

jianelli,

Clutch slipping generally show when taking off. Revs rise but speed doesn't increase, especially on hills. On the road clutch 'spin' occurs if you accelerate hard. Again the revs rise but the speed doesn't. The thrust bearing is hydraulic so adjusts automatically. If it goes it usually starts to make a whining noise which stops when you take your foot off the pedal.

agree with Paul's comment above re the clutch and first thoughts would say your issue is more down to a failing sensor

can you rev past it without shifting down and when shifting down does it freely go to 2500rpm

I have looked a bit closer and am not getting the rev/no speed of as lipping clutch. I tried a used mass air flow sensor (that I sprayed MAF cleaner in) but the problem is still there. The plugs are showing a very lean burn... Should I bite the bullet and try a new MAF? Thanks for the help I am really stumped...

Well I tried 2 different used MAF sensors and the problem is still there. Fuel pressure is good, newer DI
cassette, I might try some fuel system/injector cleaner, but am just guessing... Anyone else venture a
guess?
