Greetings one and all, My 2000 Viggen convertible has come out of retirement due to the eldest daughter passing her driving test, and surprise, surprise, it now needs a new alloy wheel courtesy of taking evasive action from a rather large lorry. So do any of the learned members of this forum...

I decided to have a tracking check on my newly acquired 93 Aero convertible, (5 yrs old, 38k miles). Kwik-fit reported the need for adjustment but this did not 'straighten' the steering wheel, which seems slightly off when driving in a straight line, (cambers accepted). I have had the car...

  9. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Hi all, Quick question for those who have larger wheels i.e 17" ones. when you go from std 6.5 to 7" wheels do you keep the offset at 30? or do you need to adjust it +-? From what I can work out if the std offset is kept it will move the wheel outer edge by 7mm which I don't think is a problem...
  10. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
I have a 1987 16v turbo. At low speeds, anything below 40km/h, it makes a noise from the front LH wheel something like a stone stuck under a brakepad. It's particularly bad when braking or turning. It can be minimized by keeping some forward pressure (auto trans!) via the throttle, while braking...

  12. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Should the steering wheel audion controls be backlit ? In my old car (97 Xantia) they were, I'm not particulary bothered if they're not but if they should be then I may as well replace the bulbs or whatever. Cheers
  13. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
I should soon have a set of 16" aero wheels (exposed bolt type), does anyone know the part number for the saab emblemed centre cap that covers the hub nut? There were a set on eBay a few weeks ago but I missed them.
  14. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Hi, Can anyone give me a hint on where to check next after the brakes and wheel bearing for a rubbing noise that occurs during right hand cornering? The noise is coming from the OSF and sounds like a brake pad dragging. The frequency of the rubbing is also proportional to road speed. I am...

I have 17" alloy wheels on my 9-5 which I guess are the same age as my car (1998). They have a large centre piece covering the wheel nuts. It's just under 150mm in diameter and slightly dished with the Saab Scania badge in the centre. It's held in place with one Alun (is that how you spell...
  20. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Does anyone know if it's possible to retro-wire in the audio controls on the steering wheel to the audio unit? Clearly the mountings are there (with blanking shrouds), and I was wondering if say, the controls from a 9-3 would retro-fit. For a safe car, it's the one safety niggle I have with the...
